The realisation of innovative ideas and inventions as part of a project calls for the investment requirements to be ascertained and the financing to be secured. As a general rule, the financing is made up of contributions from various investors.
During the evaluation of an investment project by BEDA, both “hard” and “soft” investments may be taken into account. A decision to grant a support contribution and its value is dependent upon the economic interest of the Canton of Berne in the project. In addition to investment cost contributions, the Berne Economic Development Agency has another instrument at its disposal in the form of tax concessions. For these to be granted, special conditions based on the Economic Development Law [Wirtschaftsförderungsgesetz] must be complied with.
